The house at Highfield Road is an example of a house which had previously been unsuccessfully renovated and extended. CSA were tasked with re-designing and enlarging the house by its new owners. The house was re-planned at all levels, eliminating redundant circulation spaces so as to facilitate a full and relaxed use of the house. A large basement is provided to the rear accessed from a three storey extension containing a lift serving all floors, over which two octagonal brick pavilions are constructed containing the kitchen/casual dining area and the childrens playroom. These spaces and the drawing room frame a courtyard visually linking the formal and informal areas of the house.
